Safe Supply

It’s time to pave a way that promotes a safer and healthier future for our communities.

As a former police officer with years of firsthand experience working with the homeless and addicted population, I understand the complexities and urgency of this issue.

My commitment to this issue is deeply personal and heartfelt.

Safe supply initiatives have become a pivotal topic in British Columbia’s discourse on tackling drug addiction and homelessness. As a former police officer with years of firsthand experience working with the homeless and addicted population, I understand the complexities and urgency of this issue.

The concept of safe supply, while aiming to reduce harm, faces a critical challenge on the streets. My experience reveals that despite good intentions, the reality is that the provided drugs often don’t reach those they are intended for. Instead, they often end up in the wrong hands, contributing to the dangerous cycle of drug trafficking and exposing vulnerable individuals, including our youth, to even greater risks.

Drug users on the streets frequently sell the provided substances to procure more potent street drugs, perpetuating a cycle of addiction and harm. This disturbing trend underscores the need for a comprehensive approach that doesn’t just address the symptoms but targets the root causes of drug addiction.

I advocate for robust support for law enforcement in tackling drug trafficking while concurrently addressing the underlying factors contributing to addiction. Harm reduction is crucial, but it must be accompanied by effective treatment strategies that aim to rehabilitate individuals and offer them a path towards recovery.
My commitment to this issue is deeply personal and heartfelt. I firmly believe that combining law enforcement efforts with comprehensive strategies for addressing addiction and providing access to effective treatment is key to overcoming this crisis.

Together, we must work towards a solution that not only reduces harm but also actively supports individuals in breaking free from the devastating grip of addiction. It’s time to pave a way that promotes a safer and healthier future for our communities.
